Apple wood has many uses for the modern American builder and food critic. It is widely used for its fragrant timbers in wood-smoking grills tinging pork, beef, and another meats with its sweet aroma. Apple wood is also found as an accent timber used in creating doors, ornate handles, and small artisan projects such as dishware and jewelry. Apple wood has long been used for its fragrant qualities in smoking meats. The wood is used as fuel for the smoking pit; it's believed the meat being cooked takes on the flavors from the wood's smoke. Apple wood-smoked bacon is a popular product and is often marketed as a higher end meat product in restaurant/fast-food commercials.

In Magick, the apple is sacred fruit of many dieties including Diana, Dionysus, Olwen, Apollo, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Zeus and Iduna. The wood itself has been used in magick for centuries, mainly for fashioning wands and for buring during fire rituals. The apple wood is one of the traditional woods of Beltane. Its also curious that the counterpoint of Beltane, the Samhain Sabbat considers the apple fruit a sacred fruit. In this manner, the apple is a central figure in two of the most important Wiccan Sabbats!
