About Yooperlite (Sodalite-Rich Syenite)

Yooperlite is a coined name for a type of Syenite that comes from the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, primarily along the beaches of Lake Superior. Syenites form from slowly cooling magma under the Earth. They are mainly composed of Sodalite and plagioclase feldspar (similar to moonstone, labradorite, etc). Their distinctive fluorescence under UV light is primarily attributed to the presence of Sodalite. When exposed to UV light, the Sodalite within Yooperlites absorbs the light energy and then re-emits it as visible light, resulting in the characteristic glowing effect. The UV effect is what makes it different from other sodalites (all sodalites can be UV-reactive, but all Yooperlites are UV-reactive).

Metaphysical Properties of Yooperlite

There is a strong association between Full Moon energy and Yooperlites. This crystal reflects light just as the full moon does. Being an intrusive rock, it embodies all the Yin energy of inner work and life path. Yooperlite is a crystal that can help with life's purpose - whether you want to discover your purpose or are working towards fulfilling it, Yooperlite is a fantastic addition. It is an excellent crystal for those seeking to find their confidence and authenticity in the world, particularly when learning lessons and working on their shadows. This is a wonderful companion crystal for performers, artists, and public speakers. If you struggle expressing yourself, Yooperlite can also be extremely helpful! Find your light and shine it into the world!
