About Medicine Fans
Feathers have traditionally been used for a variety of purposes. They are an integral part of shamanic practice, and they are used as regalia and tools for smoke cleansing and healing.
A shaman can use feathers during a healing session. Medicine fans are made of entire bird wings and move energy around in a client's energy field. They can also be used as smoke-cleansing fans, wafting smoke from burning herbs. Feather fans during smoke cleansing give you better control over where you are sending the smoke.
Each fan will also bring animal medicine for the animals who gave their parts to the fan. The fan is a living entity and can significantly enhance your spiritual practice. When you first receive it, you should journey with your fan to discover what medicine it will bring to your practice and what skills it can teach you.
Crystals
Black Obsidian: This crystal connects with the root chakra and promotes grounding and protection. This is also an ancient stone of divination.
Citrine Calcite Double Point: Citrine Calcite brings happiness, health, and optimism. Its soft, tranquil energy comforts, soothes, and revitalizes, especially in times of need.
Fossilized Pine Cone Slice: Throughout recorded human history, pinecones have symbolized human enlightenment, resurrection, eternal life, and regeneration.
Plant Medicine
Oak (handle): Oak symbolizes strength, endurance, power, and ancient wisdom. The oak tree's strong roots penetrate deeply into the earth, anchoring it firmly in place. Like the backbone of the earth, its trunk rises tall and proud, branching out into a canopy of leaves that provide shelter and protection to all those beneath it. In many cultures, the oak tree symbolizes power and authority and is associated with gods and goddesses of thunder, lightning, and fertility.
Animal Medicine
Quail Wings: Quails have been revered in various cultures and traditions as symbols of protection, courage, and family unity. They are often seen as a sign of good fortune and abundance. Their ability to blend in with their surroundings symbolizes adaptability and camouflage. In some Native American traditions, quails are seen as messenger birds, carrying messages from the spiritual realm to the earthly realm.
The quail spirit animal teaches the importance of family unity and fostering harmonious relationships within one's community. The quail power animal provides strength and courage in times of adversity. Those who call upon the quail as their power animal are granted the ability to navigate difficult situations with grace and resilience. The quail power animal also symbolizes the importance of staying grounded and connected to one's roots.
All of the fans made by White Thunder Bear are sourced from cruelty-free animal parts. Feathers and wings are created from birds that either shed them naturally, died of natural causes, or were consumed for food, where using all of the parts of each animal is an honoring of the animal. Furs and leather are sourced from the same supplier that sources parts for first families.
