Amazonite is named after the Amazon River, not because it comes from this area (there are no deposits there) but because the color looks like the color of the river. This stone is of the feldspar variety and can range from dark to light green. Generally with white streaks which can be quartz, granite or pegmatite. These can be suble or pronounced. Amazonite easiy chips and breaks so handle it with care!

Amazonite is a stone that is often used to balance female and male energies. It can be a stone that promotes kindness and sometimes is referred to as the "mother stone" as it promotes healthy relationships.
