Aquamarine forms when magma under the Earth's crust interacts with mineral-rich rocks under mountain ranges. The magma cools as it enters fissures and crevasses of other mineral-rich rocks. The minerals heat up when they interact with the magma, forming Aquamarine. The stone gets it's name from the latin word for sea water since the stone is the same color.
Even though the stone is named after water, it has little of the water element in it. It is generally ruled by earth and fire. This stone does have a gentle but powerful energy and is an excellent stone for both protection and healing. Even though it vibrates are a fairly high frequency, it's gentle energy can be used for anyone, even animals. Aquamarine works well with the heart and throat chakras as well.
