Rattle Hide: Elk

About Rattles

Rattles are a common theme among many spiritual practices on all continents. Although the types of rattles may differ, their purpose remains the same. In a ceremony, the Shamanic Rattle is often used to help create sacred space and call in the spirits of the land, the elements, and other spiritual helpers. The rattle's sound can help open up a space between the worlds, creating a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.

When working with the rattle, the sound and rhythm of the rattle can help shift consciousness from an ordinary state into a shamanic state. Shamans also work with rattles to break up and help remove stagnant and negative energies from someone. There are various ways in which shamans work with rattles, and many develop ways that are specific to their healing practices.

Once you receive your rattle, I recommend you journey with it to discover how it wants to work with you!

Crystals

  • Amethyst: Connects with the 3rd eye and promotes emotional healing and psychic development. (Inside the rattle)
  • Clear Quartz: Augments all other stones and connects with the crown chakra. A universal healing stone and excellent for dream work!
  • Freshwater Pearls: Freshwater Pearls are intimately connected to the moon and the water element. Even the feeding cycles of mollusks are connected to the Lunar Tides. These pearls are created from irritants inside the shell and teach us to embrace the wholeness of who we are.
  • Mother of Pearl: Made from the shells of Mollusks, pearl oysters, and sometimes abalone shells, they are deeply connected with lunar energies and teach us self-love and self-care.

Plant Medicine

Alder (handle): Alder trees are members of the birch family and grow near streams. The symbolism of the Alder Tree is rich, from its connection to water and the cyclical nature of life to its role as a protector and guide. It teaches the importance of embracing change and transitions, urging souls to navigate the currents of life with courage and trust in the natural flow of the universe. A symbol of resilience, capable of withstanding the challenges of existence while maintaining a profound connection to the spiritual realms.

Mugwort: An herb of psychic gifts and divination, it helps us to connect with our higher selves and develop our spiritual side. (inside the rattle)

Rose Petals: An herb of love, sensuality, commitment, ancestors, and friendship. It is an excellent herb to connect with Universal love. (inside the rattle)

All rattles are consecrated with and contain Tobacco and Cornmeal for blessings from the Sacred Masculine and Feminine. Rattles are also blessed with and contain White Sage for purification and protection.

Animal Medicine

Elk Hide: In many cultures, Elk symbolizes strength, stamina, and pride. It represents a connection to the earth and nature and the ability to navigate and adapt to life's challenges with grace and dignity. The Elk spirit animal brings a sense of power, courage, and independence. The power of the Elk as a spirit animal lies in its ability to inspire and empower individuals to embrace their inner strength and capabilities. It encourages a sense of determination and drive to overcome obstacles and achieve success.

Coyote Fur: The coyote, known for its cunning nature and adaptability, is a complex spirit animal that embodies paradox, intelligence, and the ability to see through deception. In many traditions, the coyote is seen as a trickster, but this also includes the qualities of resourcefulness, survival, and a deep understanding of the balance within nature. The coyote spirit encourages us to be flexible in our thinking, embrace the unexpected, and find balance amid change, reminding us that adaptability is a form of intelligence.

All of the fans made by White Thunder Bear are sourced from cruelty-free animal parts. Feathers and wings are created from birds that either shed them naturally, died of natural causes, or were consumed for food, where using all of the parts of each animal is an honoring of the animal. Furs and leather are sourced from the same supplier that sources parts for first families.
