About Girasol Quartz
Most quartz forms in either igneous rocks or environments with geothermal waters. In igneous rocks, quartz forms as magma cools. Like water turning into ice, silicon dioxide will crystallize as it cools. Slow cooling generally allows the crystals to grow larger.
Quartz can also grow from silica-rich water. Silicon dioxide dissolves in water, like sugar in tea, but only at high temperatures and pressure. Then, as the temperature or pressure drops, the solution becomes saturated, and quartz crystals form.
About Girasol Quartz
Girasol Quartz is a variety of Milky Quartz that comes from Madagascar. It can also be called Blue Opal Quartz, Madagascar Star Quartz, Milky Quartz, or Blue Opal Quartz. Please understand the term "Girasol Quartz" describes the appearance of this Quartz, a type of transparent to semi-transparent milky Quartz from Madagascar. "Girasol" properly refers to a kind of Opal. Do not be confused.
The cloudiness of milky Quartz comes from microscopic inclusions of fluids encased in the crystal from the time the crystal first grew. Milky Quartz is often responsible for the cloudy phantoms inside otherwise clear rock quartz, amethyst, citrine, or smoky Quartz.
Girasol is "opalized" Quartz found in crystallized mass form and is a cloudy blue-white.
